Chapter 2 – Bloated
Dr. Mobile – “Well, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve seen you.”
He looked at Andy, who was laying down on the desk.
Dr. Mobile – “How have things been since we last talked?”
Andy – “OK, I guess. I have been feeling a little bloated lately. I know I’m one of the slimmer smart phones out there. I just can’t shake the feeling that I’m not the same phone I used to be… Doc, can I ask you a question?”
Dr. Mobile – “Sure.”
Andy brought up his home screen. It was filled to the brim with icons.
Andy – “Do these apps make me look fat? I mean, honestly. Swipe through these screens of mine. Each one is jammed with widgets, shortcuts, icons and apps. I almost can’t breathe and I feel like I’m putting on more Megabytes every day.”
The Psychiatrist looked down at his patient and tried to hide his true thoughts.
Dr. Mobile – “No, Andy… you look… um… great. Just like you were right out of the box.”
Andy – “Thanks doc, but I can read your mind. I’m being serious! It’s a new app that my owner installed called MindReader. Kind of creepy in a way. I’m disgusted by these apps and I know you would agree with me. I’m just not sure how to get that across to my owner.”
Dr. Mobile – “Have you tried talking to her about it? Maybe she’s just not aware of it.”
Andy – “I’ve tried to autocorrect her words to send her a message, but it doesn’t work. Every time she fills up one screen, she just adds another. Doc, do you think you could help me lose some apps?”
Dr. Mobile – “Oh, I don’t know Andy. I want to help, but –”
Andy – “Here, I’ll make it easy. Just hold one icon down and then remove it. Just like that! Now, keep going.”
Doctor Mobile began removing one app after another. Andy was feeling better by the minute.
And then… it stopped.
Andy – “Hey doc, why did you stop?”
All Andy could see was a glazed look come over the doctor’s face
Dr. Mobile – “An alert from Clash of Clans. We’ll continue next week Andy.”
Stay tuned next week for the “Final Chapter – Autocorrect“ of the three part series in Andy the Smartphone.
