Muji Flagship Store to Open on Vancouver’s Robson Street

MUJI Canada is opening their first Canadian flagship store on Vancouver’s Robson Street. A Grand Opening date set for Saturday, December 2, at 10am. This MUJI location will be the largest outside of Asia, boasting 14,507 square feet of retail space. With over 4,500 products, MUJI has mentioned that the Robson location will feature it’s brand new store concept. The new store concept is exclusive only to MUJI Flagship locations. MUJI Labo,  MUJI Coffee Counter, MUJI Yourself and Aroma Bar are some of the novelty services available at MUJI Robson Street.

Curious about what these services are?

1. MUJI Labo

MUJI Labo began as a special project in 2005 to explore basic concepts in apparel from a free and creative approach. “Labo” stands for laboratory, an appropriate name as the purpose of the line is to experiment with new styles, materials and manufacturing processes. What MUJI Labo learns through product development eventually becomes standard apparel in MUJI stores, reflecting practical design and conscientious materials that consider both the producer and the environment. MUJI Labo collection is only available in select MUJI flagship stores around the world.

2. MUJI Coffee Counter

MUJI Canada partnered with Ethical Bean Coffee, a leading supplier of 100% fairtrade certified, organic coffee. Based in Vancouver, Ethical Bean is committed to social responsibility, global awareness, and environmental accountability, while constantly seeking new ways to make their coffee both just and better. The coffee counter at MUJI Robson Street will serve simple and affordable coffee by the cup.

MUJI YOURSELF is a customization service including embroidery, stamps, gift wrapping and label printing. While stamps, embroidery and gift wrapping are already available in select Canadian stores, the Robson Street location will offer label printing for the first time. A vast selection of labels and personalization options will allow customers to customize various MUJI products such as stationery, storage, furniture, etc.

4. Aroma Bar

The Aroma Bar will allow customers to create a customized fragrance blend by choosing from more than 40 essential oils. In addition to regular MUJI essential oils, customers will have many more options to further personalize their home with unique scents.

Final Thoughts

I have been to the MUJI location at Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, BC and it’s a large store that has 2 floors of goods. I can imagine the unique offerings that a MUJI flagship store may provide when they open on Robson Street. If you happen to be at the Grand Opening and snap a few photos, feel free to tag me on Instagram or Facebook @604chuck. I’d like to see your first experience at MUJI Robson Street.
